Youth Programs

The mission of the All Souls Youth Department is to develop the spiritual, intellectual and emotional character of young people in a safe and tolerant community.

To that end, Youth are empowered and encouraged to work with the Youth Director and Adult Advisors to develop and deliver a balanced program that includes:

• Religious education
• Worship
• Fellowship
• Social action and
• Leadership development.

Morning Programming

Tenth through 12th graders may attend Youth classes Sunday mornings at 10:00 and/or 11:30 am in the Sponge Room. Adult Advisors facilitate activities, but the direction of discussions is dependent upon Youth input. All are encourage to examine and share their views in an atmosphere of openness, honesty, tolerance, understanding and acceptance of diversity.

Ninth grade is our Coming of Age year - the class meets from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm on Sunday mornings.

Sunday Evenings, We Ask YRUU?

YRUU is the acronym used by our high school Youth Group, Young Religious Unitarian Universalists. Freshmen through seniors meet with the Youth Director and Youth Advisors from 6:00-8:00 pm on Sunday evenings to worship, learn, work and play together in an atmosphere of acceptance, friendship, trust and empowerment. Many youth cite the sense of belonging within YRUU as one of the most positive aspects of their adolescence.

Wednesday Evenings

Programming for Youth grades 9-12 begins at 5:30 pm with dinner in Emerson Hall (cost is $6). Chapel follows at 6:30. The Sponge Room is open to meet with the Youth Director – or for supervised hang-out time – from 7:00-8:30 pm. Often we use this time for group meetings or planning sessions.
