Infant care is available by reservation.  Contact Cathy Wolf, child care coordinator, at 743-2805, ext. 308, or childcare@allsoulschurch.org.  At least one day’s notice is required.

These are some of our classes we offered in the Spring semester:

The Genius of Charles Darwin:  James Donovan will host, showing the documentary.  Published 150 years ago, Charles Darwin's On the Origin of Species hanged everything--science, religion, and even humanity's image of itself.  Join Professor Richard Dawkins as he narrates and explains exactly how Darwin developed his revolutionary theory of evolution and why it's still relevant today.  How do species evolve?  What does 'natural selection' mean in biology, politics, and sociology.

Altered Book Making- with Pam Rice.  Participants are asked to bring a used hardcover book which they will alter by painting, cutting, gluing, drawing, sewing, coloring and adding found materials to the book.

Great Decisions 2010 with Earl Goodman: Great Decisions takes you beyond the headlines by providing a look at eight of the most significant and far-reaching challenges facing the world.  You will have access to essential background, relevant facts, present and future policy options and impartial analyses to help you assess the challenges ahead.

Spiritual Beading with Bill Wescott:  Come learn the age old art of bead weaving.  Learn to take simple beads and a length of thread and let the creative spirit move you to make a piece of art.  The class will look at the history of bead weaving and the place it has in the religions and cultures of the world.  You can choose one of the many patterns Bill has developed over time or he will be glad to help you design your own.  There is a $5.00 supply fee.  Let the needle and thread capture the light and color of the spirit of the human soul.

A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle with Antoine Harris and Ann Zoller:  In A New Earth, spiritual teacher and author Tolle, advocates present moment awareness and the dismantling of the ego as the path toward awakened living.  According to Tolle, "heaven is the awakened state that will bring about 'a new earth', in the outer world, the world of form." Class members will read and discuss this book led by class facilitators.

Healing from Fundamentalism with Rev. Tamara Lebak and Dr. Chad Johnson: Did you belong to a church that emphasized legalistic and wooden interpretations of the scripture?  A church that proclaimed a narrowly defined Jesus as the only way to God?  Experiences in these religious milieus can range from annoyance to appreciation to abuse.  In this class participants will explore their past religious experiences and seek to understand, appreciate, grieve, heal, and reconcile them with current perspectives for spiritual growth and transformation.

Islands of Meaning in the River of Meaninglessness with Mike Newman and Tom Tomshany:  Life is a river as described by the ancient Greek Heraclitus:”You cannot step into the same river twice, for fresh waters are ever flowing upon you.”  We believe eternal moments, mystic moments, are islands in the river of life.  This course is an invitation to examine the grain of sand in our individual oyster shells that is even now provoking the creation of a uniquely magnificent pearl of insight, understanding and wisdom within each of us.  Come participate in explorations of these and other unanswerable questions.

Woodcarving with Rusty Johnson:  Learn the basics of carving starting with safety, woods, tools, and finishing.  Beginners will work on a simple project to finish during the six week class.  Any carvers who have participated in prior classes can bring a project of their own to work on.  Some tools and supplies will be furnished.  There will be a $5 fee to cover materials.

Feminist Theology:  An introduction with Dr. Janet Parachin:  "Feminism is the radical notion that women are people."  Feminist theology seeks to recover, validate and understand women's experiences of and perspectives on religion.  Through lecture and discussion we will explore the feminist view of the Bible, God-talk, salvation, the church, and spirituality.

All Souls 101 and Roots classes will be offered on Sundays, led by Rev. Lavanhar and Rev. Lebak and Rev. Garfinkle.
