Weddings and Unions

If it is simple, it is beautiful!

All Souls is one of the most beautiful churches in Tulsa; its simplicity makes it so.

All services held at All Souls, whether the Sunday morning worship or special rites of passage, are marked by a lack of ostentation. The wedding or union service especially derives its beauty and quiet dignity from its simplicity.

Far from detracting from the occasion, such restraint enhances the ceremony’s significance.

The following procedures are guidelines set out by the Ministers and the Board of Trustees. Please read them carefully before you make your plans. To schedule a wedding, please contact the office at 743-2363 or info@allsoulschurch.org .

The Wedding Service

The Sanctuary and Chapel

The Sanctuary of the Church seats about four hundred people, the Chapel about seventy. Keep your guest list as small as possible. Generally one can expect that about half of those invited will actually attend the ceremony. Many weddings are held in the Sanctuary with only the immediate families of the bride and groom present.

Flowers and Decorations

Flowers for the service are limited to one arrangement on the Chancel table. You may have urns of greens on the Sanctuary Chancel where the pulpit and lectern normally stand.

No artificial flowers are allowed. You may use candelabra or "A Unity Candle" in the Sanctuary and in the Chapel. The wedding coordinator can refer you to wedding supply houses where you may obtain the candelabra or Unity Candle. No lights other than candles are permitted on the Chancel.

Pew bows, attached with ribbon, are permitted on the family pews only.

Music for the Service

It is our policy that music for services is provided by our organist and/or pianist, and that they arrange for any vocalists. If the church musicians are not available, substitute musicians must be approved by the Ministers. All music for the service must be approved by the Ministers and the church musicians.

The Ministers

The Ministers of All Souls conduct all services in the church. However, if you wish other clergy to conduct or take part in the ceremony, you must confer with the Ministers and obtain their approval.

Pre-marital conferences with the Ministers should begin as soon after you are engaged as possible. The Ministers will want to talk to you about the wedding ceremony and arrange for two or three additional counseling sessions.

The Minister performing the ceremony will conduct the wedding rehearsal. Please discourage wedding consultants from attending the rehearsal.

All fees for facilities rental and the services of Ministers and musicians must be paid in full (by separate checks) to the wedding coordinator three weeks before the wedding. The wedding license is to be given to the Minister at least three days prior to the service.

Photographs

No flash photography is allowed during the wedding service. Pictures of the bride and her father or other escort entering the Sanctuary are permitted.

If you are hiring a professional photographer, you would best accommodate your guests if you have the receiving line and the cutting of the cake before you take the formal pictures in the Sanctuary or Chapel.

Videotaping of the service is permitted only from the balcony.

Dressing at the Church

If the bride and her attendants dress at the church, a room can be provided to be used for this purpose. Please inform the Wedding Coordinator what time the bridal gowns or flowers will be delivered.

A room in which to dress can also be provided for the men in the wedding party, if requested.

Time and Place of Service

There may be no weddings scheduled to begin after 6:00 pm on Saturday, nor before 3:00 pm on Sunday. Exceptions may be made during the summer months with the approval of the All Souls Wedding Coordinator and the Ministers. Weddings may be held in the Sanctuary, Chapel, Garden Room, or the Garden.

Your Appointments

You must schedule the date and time of your wedding and rehearsal through the Wedding Coordinator. Appointments with the Ministers are scheduled through the Executive Administrative Assistant to the Ministers.

Appointments with the church musicians must be made directly with them.

Use Of Facilities

The facilities of All Souls are free of any additional charges to all pledge-paying members of the church except for musicians' and custodial fees. Non-members are charged the standard rental fees per the contract.

All rental charges and fees to the Ministers and musicians are payable at the church office three weeks prior to the rehearsal. Please use separate checks, payable to each respective party, for rental fees, Ministers' fees, and musicians' fees.

A full rehearsal is advisable. Date and time for the rehearsal should be reserved when the wedding is scheduled.
