Mostly Unitarian Moms (and Dads)
MUMS is a group of mothers (and fathers now because of the interest and despite the name) who gather for lunch, discussion, and occasional speakers. Support is offered to each other for parenting and life. We meet once a month to share ideas, conversation, and time away from kids or work. We meet less formally and regularly in summer.
Our children range in age from newborns to beyond high school. Our group has parents with careers both in and out of the home. The bonds of attending All Souls and being parents provide a unique support group for this often chaotic period of life.
During the church year we host a monthly lunch. This meal serves multiple purposes. It allows parents to connect. It also serves as a forum for an educational series. Future sessions may include a curriculum based on the Shelter of Each Other; Rebuilding Our Families by Mary Pipher. We also plan outings such as trips to parks, family camping, and attendance at local children's events.
Service
As a service and as pastoral care for families with new babies or families in crisis, MUMS coordinates the delivery of homemade meals or provides someone to lend a helping hand. If you would like more information about this service or know of someone in need please email us at MUMS@allsoulschurch.org.
Meeting Times
MUMS meets the 4th Thursday of each month. We meet at noon at the church and share a potluck lunch. During the church year (September through May) we either participate in discussions on various topics or are involved in a curriculum around family or parenting.
During the summer (June, July and August), we will not be meeting at the church but at a park or pool. These summer meetings are more relaxed and include kids.
For details regarding our next meetings, please see the church calendar.
All Souls generously provides free child care during our meetings at the church. Reservations need to be made at least 48 hours in advance by telephone at 743-2805 ext. 502, by email to childcare@allsoulschurch.org or through the web site. Please include the number of your children and their ages in your reservation.
Social Events
Besides our monthly potluck meetings, MUMS occasionally get together for a little fun and socializing. We have planned outings such as trips to parks, family camping, and attendance at local children's events.
