All Souls has no creed; becoming a member does not involve a declaration of faith or allegiance to any statement of belief. We welcome all who subscribe to the principles of free religion. Our Bylaws state our purpose and objective as follows:
"This Church is dedicated to religion but not to a creed. Neither upon itself nor upon its members does it impose a test of doctrinal formulas. Love of God and Man and the perfecting of our spiritual nature is regarded as the unchanging substance of religion and the essential gospel of Jesus. Consecrating itself to these principles, it aims at cultivating reverence for truth, moral character and insight, helpfulness to humanity, and the spirit of communion with the Infinite. It welcomes to its worship and fellowship all who are in sympathy with a religion thus simple and free."
Before making the decision to join, prospective members are encouraged to take "Roots" a four part class taught by the ministers that grounds our church in history and tradition and "All Souls 101", a one-time orientation to the privileges and responsibility of membership. The first Sunday of each month, those wishing to join the church may bring their completed forms (available in the “101” class or from the church office) to the front of the sanctuary after each service. There they may sign the Membership Book. If you are unable to attend on a first Sunday, or would like to speak to a minister before joining, please call and make an appointment through the Pastoral Assistant at 743-2805 ext. 305.
New Members are recognized in special services, celebrated at special meals and parties and offered frequent opportunities to become better acquainted with the members, staff and programs of the great family of All Souls.
