A Massachusetts native, Seth grew up in the First Unitarian Society of Northampton and Florence. He attended Union College in Schenectady, NY, where he received a B.A. in East Asian Studies. As part of his studies at Union in the honors program, he spent his entire junior year abroad in Japan.
After graduation, Seth worked for six months in London, before settling down in Philadelphia to work in telecommunications. Seth was an active lay-leader at First Unitarian Church during the six years he lived in Philadelphia, receiving the "Young Adult of the Year Award" from the Unitarian Universalist Association's Joseph Priestley District in 2007.
In addition to living in Japan and London, Seth has traveled and volunteered internationally, spending a month in China in the summer of 2006 volunteering as an English teacher for underprivileged high school students, as well as visiting Australia for the 2009 World Parliament of Religions. He was also fortunate to visit Senegal for two weeks in 2010, where he traveled and studied the country’s history of colonialism. Most recently, Seth participated in a Unitarian Universalist Seminarians trip to Haiti this past May, where he helped lay the foundations for the first three houses in a 100-home eco-village for refugees from the earthquake in Port-au-Prince.
Seth comes to All Souls most recently from the Boston area, where he completed his Master of Divinity at Andover Newton Theological School. He is joined in Tulsa by his partner Elizabeth Cartmell Ladd.
