A Note from Marlin

It has been a wild and wintery week, with the church closed, the streets covered in snow and ice and the children out of school! I'm glad I brought my cross-country skis when I moved from Boston. They have been my only form of transportation all week. I might have lost 10 pounds, if Anitra and Elias were not baking cookies and brownies the whole time!

I've been delighting in watching my daughter Lyla tasting her first snowflakes and sharing the awe and wonder of a world gone white. I recommend to those with stir-crazy children taking a family walk, stopping to take in the sights and soundlessness of our snowy wonderland - making some snow angels and eating some snow ice cream - and maybe knocking on a few doors to check on the neighbors to see if they need anything. For kids to grow up appreciating the wonders of nature, and learning to reach out to help others, we have to show them how it's done!

If you're worried about getting out for food or medicine, email with what you need, your name, phone number, address and nearest major intersection and we will try to get you connected with another member nearby for assistance. If you have AWD and are able to get around - and are willing help, email with your name, phone number, address and nearest major intersection.

We finally got the church parking lot free of snow, just in time for more inches to fall. We will definitely have services on Sunday for all who can make it.

For those who can't make it, this is the perfect Sunday to tune-in to our Live-Stream on the internet at 10:00 or 11:30 am. You can click your way to church from our homepage www.AllSoulsChurch.org. If it is your first time, you might give yourself a few extra minutes to learn how to use it and to make sure it is working with your computer. You will need the FREE Adobe Flash Player in order to watch (click here to download the latest version now). If the streaming video is a little slow at first, keep watching, it should even out.

My big news is that this week the Huffington Post featured my article about Uganda. To read it, follow the link on our homepage. You can help "Stand on the Side of Love" with me if you'll sign up to be a "fan" on the Post. You'll receive notifications when I have any other articles published as well as increasing the odds I'll be published there in the future, thus spreading our church's message of love and acceptance for all people. Share it through your social media, too!

I hope you and your family are staying warm and staying safe. I hope to see you Sunday, or find out that you saw me, via the internet.

In the Spirit of Love,
